Classic fish cookery in the centre of Antwerp
Maritime and our two sister restaurants
Marcel
Our sister restaurant on the Eilandje, in a former seamen's church from 1912, with the MAS around the corner. The same classic kitchen, seasonal produce only, carving and flambéing at the table — but a very different menu from ours. More than 800 wine references in the cellar, over fifty by the glass, and eight consecutive years of Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence. Two separate rooms for parties of up to 48. Open on Wednesday and Thursday, when we are closed.
Au Vieux Port
Our sister restaurant in the Napelsstraat, since 2007. The most classical of French cooking with a Parisian touch; the canard à la rouennaise, for two and prepared at your table, is the speciality there. Also black-leg chicken and Dover sole at market price. Gault&Millau awards it 14.5, and Wine Spectator has given the list its Best of Award of Excellence. Monday to Friday — so also on the days we are closed.
Maritime
We have stood on the Suikerrui, between the Cathedral and the Scheldt, since 1958. Classic fish cookery: Dover sole pan-fried or à la normande, cod fillet Dugléré, eel in green sauce, smoked eel — and the grey shrimp croquettes this house is known for. Alongside them mussels in eight preparations, oysters and Canadian lobster, and in game season pheasant and hare carved at the table. The wine list runs to more than 200 references, chosen for what comes out of the sea, and it has taken Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence three years in succession. Open Friday to Tuesday, Sunday included.
